Three Chords And The Truth

“Progressive Country was really red hot…the lyrical content and the storytelling is what made it progressive and was meant to differentiate itself from what was coming out of nashville.” - Terry Lickona, Exec. Producer of Austin City Limits.

”It was like a cultural mecca. We really felt like we had a renaissance going on. it was a post hippie counterculture scene based in Austin, Texas, and based in country and folk and folk rock music. - Ray Benson, Asleep at the wheel

1974, 75, & 76, The Progressive Country Scare was incredible in Austin. It didn’t happen anywhere else in the country, for real! It happened in Austin and it happened hard.” - Steven Fromholz

It was magic…It was like living in paris in the 20s.” - Bobby Bridger
